Minimal recoil, cheap ammo ($0.05-0.10/round). Perfect for learning fundamentals, plinking, and small game.

.223/5.56 NATO: The Utility Player

AR-15 standard. Low recoil, effective to 400+ yards. Home defense, varmint hunting, target shooting.

.308 Winchester/7.62x51: The Do-All

More recoil but greater terminal performance. Hunting medium to large game, precision shooting to 800+ yards.
