Between 1940 and 1948, approximately 15,800 units of the low-wing aircraft were produced across various versions, making it one of the most frequently built military aircraft in history. The P-51 D Series, the most common variant, accounted for nearly 8,000 of these models. Known for its aerodynamic full-metal design, highlighted by distinctive countersunk studs, the P-51 Mustang's groundbreaking performance was powered by the powerful Packard Merlin V-1650 engine, enabling it to reach speeds of up to 700 km/h and achieve an impressive range of 3,300 km.
