Their only disadvantage is they require larger optical systems to produce great images. Thus, using a 17-micron sensor in a compact scope may result in a slightly lower optical magnification and a shorter identification distance, but that's about it. This creates a huge buying bargain for guy who does his homework and understands the value of proven technology. You might have also noticed that we increased our lens size to 40mm as compared to most of our competitors who are stuck on 35.
