What's in the Package
PTR 9CT SBR 9mm
The core of this bundle is PTR Industries' roller-delayed blowback 9mm carbine in short barreled rifle (SBR) configuration. The PTR 9CT platform draws inspiration from the legendary HK MP5 design, delivering smooth mechanical operation and quality construction. The roller-delayed system is known for controlled recoil impulse and reliability even with suppressed fire.
Timney Trigger Upgrade
This package includes a Timney trigger — a premium aftermarket upgrade that's become a popular choice for shooters seeking improved trigger quality and consistency. Timney triggers offer cleaner breaks and more refined shot control compared to factory triggers, adding real value to the overall package.
30-Round Magazine + 50-Round Drum
You get both a standard 30-round magazine and a 50-round drum magazine. The 30-rounder offers reliable feed and practical capacity, while the drum provides extended magazine life between reloads — useful for training, competition, or home defense scenarios.
Package Total: $1,899.99
Important: NFA Notice
This PTR 9CT is configured as a Short Barreled Rifle (SBR), which is a regulated firearm under the National Firearms Act (NFA). Federal law requires you to:
- Complete ATF Form 4 (Application to Make and Register a Firearm)
- Pay a $200 federal tax stamp
- Receive ATF approval before you legally possess the firearm
Processing times for NFA Form 4 approvals vary significantly — currently ranging from several months to over a year depending on ATF volume and your local jurisdiction. This is not a purchase-and-shoot item; you must obtain approval before taking possession.
Verify your state and local laws. Some states have additional restrictions or prohibitions on NFA items. Confirm that SBRs are legal where you live before proceeding with an order.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does the PTR 9CT SBR Timney bundle include?
The bundle from Shooter's Choice of SC pairs the PTR 9CT 9mm SBR (roller-delayed blowback, HK MP5-pattern) with a Timney trigger upgrade installed and two magazines: a standard 30-round stick and a 50-round drum. The package price is $1,899.99 — meaningful savings versus sourcing the trigger and drum separately on top of a base 9CT.
Why does the PTR 9CT require an NFA tax stamp?
This configuration ships as a Short Barreled Rifle (SBR) under federal law, which is regulated by the National Firearms Act. You must submit ATF Form 4, pay the $200 tax stamp, and wait for ATF approval before you can take possession. As of 2026, individual Form 4 wait times typically run 6–12 months, with E-File submissions trending faster than paper. An NFA gun trust can simplify ownership across multiple users.
How does the PTR 9CT compare to an HK MP5 clone?
The 9CT uses the same roller-delayed blowback action and external ergonomics as the MP5, manufactured in South Carolina from German tooling that PTR sources for its rifles. Real-world function and durability are comparable to factory MP5 clones at a meaningfully lower price. Aftermarket support — triggers, handguards, optics mounts — is strong because of the shared MP5 parts compatibility.
Is the PTR 9CT a good suppressor host?
Yes — the closed roller-delayed action stays cleaner than blowback PCCs because spent gas vents through the barrel rather than back through the receiver. Pair it with a 9mm-rated suppressor and subsonic 147gr loads for the quietest configuration. Confirm thread pitch (1/2x28 standard) before ordering a can.
